Falling [One-Shot revision]
Title: Falling
Summary: Loki lets go of Gungnir and takes that plunge at the end of the Thor film. What were his thoughts? What happened after?
Author’s Notes: Normally I would put this under read more, but my read more is broken, so bear with me.
This was written for my rp account lokilies, but I wasn’t happy with the result, so I’m rewriting it again.

Falling. Loki was falling.
When he was young, he fell from the strikes of his tutors. When he was a youth, he fell to his knees before the Allfather. When he was an adult, he fell in defeat to Lady Sif’s blades repeatedly.
But those were the physical falls.
In his mind, his first fall was when he realized Laufey did care, but it was far too late. The second was when he watched Helblindi bleed upon the icy floor took a blow for Loki from their father. The third was when he first arrived at Asgard and was shunned, suspected, or hated by all.
The list could go on and on, be it the sewing of his lips, the price he paid for distracting Svadilfari, the stealing of Idunn’s apples, or even when he allowed Sigyn into his frozen heart.
He let his eyes slide shut, taking in the silence, the darkness.
Falling. Loki was still falling.
With each passing moment, though he truly had long since lost sense of time, he felt another layer of himself rip away. It did not hurt. It only numbed.
It numbed as his tears slid from his reddened eyes. As his breath fled his lungs. As his memories unraveled in his mind. As warmth was ripped from his fingertips.
Washes of color he could not see. Breaths he could not take. Voices that he could not hear. Touches he could not have.
All of it was ripped from him until he was certain he no longer knew himself—
Everything stilled.
Falling. He was no longer falling.
He opened his eyes. Sky, colour, light.
He took a breath. Leather, salt, air.
He listened. Voices, waves, life.
He curled his fingers. Sand, wet, friction.
He struggled to his knees and squinted upward, startled by the sudden ability to see, to smell, to hear, to feel.
Funny that; to fall onto Midgard of all places.
He got to his feet, whipping his damp hair out of his eyes as he took in the empty shores and smiled.
Alive. He was alive. His smile grew into a grin.
It was not his time yet. A stifled laugh shook his chest.
But had he truly stopped falling? He covered his mouth with his hand.
No, there was still more he could do—so much more. He gave up and threw his head back and laughed.
Falling. Loki was still falling.

A few things
I’ll be gone Christmas weekend for the most part and won’t be back until Tuesday. I’m rushing through a fanfic right now, but it’s not coming out right, so those who were looking forward to the final part of the Steps series (False Step, One Step Forward), it might not be up until New Years. I don’t want to give you guys crap.
Speaking of crap, I do have a Loki account, although I can’t play him right at the moment because my brain is clogged (I’ve been sick). I fashioned him to be a mix of the Lokis I usually write so he is a little shit, but he has a darker side to him that he never reveals until the very end.

Santa Doom will be deactivated sadly because I’m just too busy right now. I am going to leave his e-mail open for a possible new account in the future (because I don’t have enough already *deadpan*).
