Lesser-Known Thor Characters #5: Carl “Crusher” Creel aka the Absorbing Man 

“I ain’t just Crusher Creel, an ordinary con anymore! I’m the Absorbing Man… the most dangerous guy in the world!!”  - Journey into Mystery #114

Carl “Crusher” Creel was a convict serving time for assaulting a fellow racketeer when Loki found him. Using an Asgardian potion, Loki gave Creel the power to absorb the physical properties of any material he touches (or his ball and chain touches). 

Though not the most intelligent, time and time again, he has been shown as a formidable opponent against various heroes, though he is mainly known for fighting Thor. At times he may be of some assistance to heroes, but he is mainly a villain and one of Thor’s most formidable enemies.

Besides Thor, Creel is also closely associated with the villainess Titania, who serves as his love interest.
